Due to differences in taxation petrol is of course a lot cheaper in the US, a fact which certainly doesn't help in fighting climate change. It might help in fighting elections though, I bet you won't hear a lot about gas taxes during the next few months...

I'm driving a hybrid myself but having no car at all is of course even better. Stockholm happens to have excellent public transportation although we might be looking at a bus drivers' strike starting tomorrow.

In the US -where we are now - it is way too cheap.
My other thought is that if we just use all the petrol up in our nasty SUV's then we will have to start again with something cleaner and better......

Like oh too often it's way easier to complain, than see taxes and high prices as a way of actually paying for research into ecofriendly alternatives and so forth. Etc etc.
